The Wonderful Island: Sermata Island

Sermata Beautiful Coast
I will tell you about a wonderful place which I have ever stayed for a long time. This name is Sermata Island. Sermata is a remote island in southeast of Indonesia and it is located in Mollucas province. It is one of Babar archipelago and becomes one of Southwest Mollucas district, a new territory district which has just been established.

This island is not easy to reach because it is in the center of widest and deepest sea of Indonesia, Banda Sea. From Ambon or Kupang, you can only use ferry or smallboat to go to there. If you prefer to choose ferry, you must wait for long time because there is only one ferry which is operated in a month. It is a better choice if you rent a smallboat rather than ferry because it will not waste much ti

me. Even though the price is more expensive than the price of ferry ticket, sailing by smallboat will make you easier when you travel to another place.
Sermata is a tiny island, which only consist of no more than 10 villages. The number of inhabitants is about 500 to 800 people in each village. Almost of them are peasants and fishermen. They still use a very conventional equipment to work in field or sea. Corn is the main commodity of this agricultural field besides cassava, carrot, and other vegetables. Fan palm is also widely grown in this land. The landscape of Sermata Island is very attractive. The large green forest and hill surrounded by long white coast is a nice panorama of this island.

Although the transportation are difficult to get, the wonderful of Sermata makes some visitors come to there.
